The iDAP College, Asia Divers PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC), leading to PADI Open Water Scuba (OWSI) consists of 10 components:
New for 2010 - PADI eLearning - Dive Theory and Instructor Development Course Online. You have the option of completing the PADI Instructor Development Course online which covers nine separate topics to prepare you for the practical sessions needed to complete your Assistant Instructor Course, Open Water Scuba Instructor Program or full Instructor Development Course. You can also complete the five areas of Dive Theory online which is required for Divemasters, the Open Water Scuba Instructor Program, Instructor Development Course and Instructor Examination. The iDAP College Go Pro II includes the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) as part of our PADI Scuba Diving Instructor Careers Training Curriculum. Ideally you should start your IDC Preparation now. The program includes the optional but highly desirable IDC Skills Demonstration Workshop. Preparation is the key to success at the IDC and IE. Preparing for a diving career is a considerable investment of time and commitment. The right preparation significantly reduces your IDC course load and allows you more time to assimilate and apply the information you learn. To be sure we offer this unique free workshop to all our AI, IDC and OWSI candidates to make sure that you ARE prepared before we start. The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is split into two parts: The PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) Course and the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) Program. These can be done separately or together as one unit. You must successfully complete the AI Course before going on to the OWSI Program. New in 2010 the full Instructor Development Course is further split into the Foundational Knowledge which can be completed either online beforehand or live in class here with us, plus the Practical Application for both the AI Course and the OWSI Program.
We run the Emergency First Responder Instructor course between the IDC Foundational Knowledge and IDC Skills Workshop as we find it fits in best then but it can be completed at any time. Since March 2009 you are required to be a CPR/first aid Instructor before your OWSI paperwork is processed so obviously EFR Instructor is an ideal choice and it is basically essential for any Professional Scuba Diving Instructor anyway.
The PADI Asia Pacific office in Sydney, Australia runs the PADI Instructor Examination seven times a year here in Puerto Galera this year.
The PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Specialty Instructor course is included in our Go Pro II Silver A, Jade, Gold and Diamond Packages as an added bonus since it is almost essential for all Instructors to teach this course. If you are not already Nitrox certified our Go Pro II Gold Package includes the EANx Diver Specialty before the EFR Instructor course and the Specialty Instructor course after the IE plus 10 Nitrox tank fills.
The optional Instructor Internship is free to all our graduates of our IDC and the IE and will give you valuable hands on experience working alongside our very experienced team of Instructors. If you are looking for a job then this will definitely set you on the right path.
This program can be entered at any level provided you meet the entry requirements. After successful completion of the PADI Instructor Examination (IE), PADI will award candidates the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification. Since we are a PADI Vocational Centre you can also apply for the PADI Certificate 3 in Scuba Instruction which for British Instructors qualifies as NVQ 3.
In order to get the most out of your IDC you need to be well prepared and ideally should start your preparation now.
