The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is a 12-day program designed to prepare qualified candidates
to become PADI Instructors.
We believe we offer one of the finest instructor career
training programs available today. Our IDC provides a professional
learning experience in which you will learn how to teach diving
utilizing the most successful program in existence. Not only
will you learn how to teach in the classroom, pool and open
water environments, you will also learn how to effectively
use all PADI's teaching aids and support materials and now in 2011 you will also be better prepared to work in a PADI dive center.
The philosophy behind our IDC is that it is 'Candidate
Centered'.
Asia Divers and iDAP College's Instructor Career Training program
is intense, fun, demanding and exciting all at the same time.
Candidates have fun; make new friends and share rewarding
life experiences while earning some of the most coveted credentials
in the dive industry. In Asia Divers and iDAP College's programs
you will feel like a person - a member of a team - not a number.
The IDC is divided into four segments. First it is divided into Foundational Knowledge and Practical Application. We complete all of the Foundational Knowledge for both the Assistant Instructor (AI) and Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) at the start of the program. If you are limited on time or prefer to take the relaxed approach you may also complete this independently at your leisure online before arriving through PADI eLearning. The Practical Application is split into the Assistant Instructor and Open water Scuba Instructor. We complete the 4-day PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) Course portion first followed by the 6-day PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) Program with a day off in between. Together the two courses combine to encompass the entire PADI IDC. Both courses must be completed before attending the PADI Instructor Examination (IE) . Our IDC is actually run as five programs in one starting with the 2 1/2 days IDC Foundational Knowledge, then the 2-day Emergency First Response Instructor course followed by the 2-day free IDC Skills Demonstration Workshop, the 4-day Assistant Instructor Practical Application, the 5-Day Open Water Scuba Instructor Practical Application and a 2-day Mock IE which precedes the PADI Instructor Examination. We also have 2 days off in between to enable you to rest, relax, enjoy the diving, study, etc. to help make its as stress free as possible.
Each segment can be scheduled as a stand-alone course or completed all at one time. You have several training options and flexibility for reaching your professional goals depending on your current certification level, experience level, time restraints, etc. Options include:
- For PADI Divemasters you may choose
just to attend the AI course first and later on after
gaining more experience go on to complete the OWSI program.
- For PADI Divemasters you may attend the full IDC and, upon successful completion, go on to the IE (as long as all other IE prerequisites are met).
- For PADI Divemasters with between 60 and 100 dives because Asia Divers is a PADI 5 Star Career Development Center you may attend the full IDC and provided you have been certified 6 months, have logged 60 dives, are a candidate of our 6 week career development program, or are enrolled in 5 pre- and/or post-IDC courses (such as EFR Instructor, Specialty Instructor, etc.), upon successful completion, go on to the IE (as long as all other IE prerequisites are met). You must also be certified as an Assistant Instructor. However your paperwork will not be processed until you meet the100-logged dives and you will be certified once your graduation registration
packets and IE forms have been processed.
- For PADI Assistant Instructors you may attend the OWSI program only and, upon successful completion, go on to the IE (as long as all other IE prerequisites are met). Please consult us for advice. Remedial training, additional IDC curriculum presentations, or full IDC with or without the Pre-Study and Preparation Workshop may be advised.
