Our optional but highly desirable and unique 4 days of IDC Pre-Study and Preparation is free to our AI, IDC and OWSI candidates. From experience we know that candidates arrive with different levels of experience and preparation so we want to ensure that before we start the IDC everyone is ready with Instructor level theory knowledge and demonstration quality skills from the Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver. The program is entirely prescriptive and flexible and is based on the individual candidates needs. This will put you one step ahead right before the IDC and will cover the following:
Prior to the start of the Instructor Development Course, Assistant Instructor course or Open Water Scuba Instructor program you must complete all 16 Knowledge Reviews from the Instructor Candidate Workbook. This may be accomplished by self-study or through staff led pre-course sessions. During our four days IDC Pre-Study our staff will guide you through your reading assignments and help you understand PADI standards, educational philosophy, training suggestions and other background information.
 You'll also be completing the Instructor Pre-assessment (Dive Theory)
Exam including Physics, Physiology, Skills and Environment, Equipment and the RDP. The dive theory is usually the most common improvement area for IDC candidates. You'll receive valuable feedback on any missed question you may have. In the pool you'll practice a 20 Basic Open Water Diver Skills Demonstration Review and the Rescue Diver Course exercise # 7 from the Instructor Examination (IE).
Either the day before or during the IDC Pre-Study you can also complete the Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver Specialty theory and practical application. Then you can complete your 10 Nitrox dives either on the Preparation days or the IDC.
Preparation is the key to Success. To be even one more step ahead it is best if you can start preparing at least one month before your IDC starts. Please request our special document we have prepared which will guide you through all the necessary study, documentation and materials necessary. Just send off this email if you are using an email program such as Outlook and we will email the document back to you by return or send an email to info@idc-inparadise.com if you are using web based email like Hotmail or Yahoo. It is still possible for you to finish your Knowledge Reviews when you arrive here, provided they are finished before we start the IDC but will be so much more beneficial if they are completed ahead of time.
Entry Requirements:
PADI Divemaster or qualifying certification from another training organization
Preferably though not required, completion of all 16 Knowledge Reviews from the Instructor Candidate Workbook (or Best of the Undersea Journal and Study Tools if using a European language version)
