The courses involve academic presentations and open water dives (except for 4 non-diving specialties). Candidates are shown how to conduct training dives, briefings and scenarios. The Specialties are listed in order of popularity worldwide. You should choose the Specialties that 1. Interest you most and 2. Are of benefit or popular in your area.
Subjects include enriched air diving concerns and planning procedures, night diving techniques and points of interest, wreck mapping and survey, wreck penetration drills, use of wreck reels, deep diving techniques and hazards, air consumption calculations, underwater marine life identification and observation, navigation skills and techniques, multilevel diving techniques using a PADI wheel and/or dive computer, search and recovery drills, selection and implementation of appropriate search patterns, and use of lift bags, etc.
All of the above Specialties can be conducted individually as required or combined with a minimum of five as part of the Master Scuba Diver Trainer Prep course. See the following web page for details.
Note that you will still need to have issued 25 PADI certifications before you will be able to apply for the Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating. However by having the most popular Specialties you will be able to reach 25 certifications much quicker, and with a lot more fun.
