A Philippines holiday for families. El Galleon beach resort. |
Don't take our word for it, look what Scuba Magazine said in their on line magazine about our Philippines holiday resort..
El Galleon Holiday Resort
Set up more than twenty years ago, the El Galleon Resort provides quiet luxury for families and particularly families where one or more like to scuba dive.
Situated just a couple of hours South of Manila on the island of Oriental Mindoro, our holiday resort povides some of the best family sports and diving of anywhere in the Philippines.
Philippines marine Life.
Our holiday resort is situated bang in the middle of a large fish reserve, created and protected by the Philippines Government. Here you will actually find more varieties of fish than in the whole of the Red Sea and a greater variety of hard and soft corals than in the entire Great Barrier Reef.
Water in the Philippines.
The Philippines is made up of literally thousands of islands and depending on who counted, estimates vary from 6,000 to 20,000 and each island is fed by Pacific currents which bring and deposit large amounts of nutrients hence the abundant marine life. These currents though ensure that the water tenperature here is a constant 25C to 27C and whilst underwater visibility will vary, the norm is 30 to 40 Meters.

Scuba diving at El Galleon.
Part of the El Galleon Resort is Asia Divers. Here you can arrange dives, hire equipment, learn to dive or improve your diving skills. |
As a PADI dive center we have won numerous awards and are one of only two dive schools in the Philippines qualified to train to Instructor level.
Just a few minutes by boat away from our holiday resort you can visit the Canyons and see resting sharks, cave dive, drift dive or even dive a wreck or two.
Here you will not be limited to diving with air. We train and dive with a wide variety of gas mixes such as Nitrox where the added Oxygen to the air mix greatly increases dive time for shallower dives. Then there is the newer Trimix for experianced divers who want to go really deep or even re-breathers for those who want to experiance near silence during a dive.
We run courses for every level of diver from the novice up and we don't forget the children.
Any holiday will be better if the children enjoy themselves. From age eight a child can get an introduction to our exciting sport by doing the 'Bubblemakers' course.
Nightlife for your holiday.
The Philippines is renowned for it's nightlife and the warmth of the Philippino people. You may chose to stay in the rosort where you can dine like a king or even a pauper, if you must. Or, you may care to wander up to the Point bar which was built some 4 meters above ground level and is open on 3 sides allowing a cool evening breeze to blow through whilst allowing guests to look out over the Pacific as they sip cocktails or quaff a beer.
Worries about your children if you go out? Don't be. Just ask at reception and with a little notice a babysitter will happily entertain them and look after them allowing you freedom with peace of mind.
Other passtimes when not diving.
No matter how keen a person is on scuba, the time you can spend diving is limited and there are many other sport and leisure persuits you can indulge in.
You can hire kiaks here and just paddle around some of the most breathtaking scenery. The hiking can be breathtaking in every sense. Like to sail ? Or fancy a sunset cruise ? El Galleon regularly run an afternoon cruise around the islands, usually finishing up at White Beach where you can eat a pizza, drink a beer or play voleyball before climbing on the boat again to pull off shore to watch the sunset.
Golf.
Not actual part of our resort, the Ponderosa golf club here is world famous. You start playing from the top of a small mountain and each hole is lower than the last, so that when you finish the course you are back at sea level.
The Town of Sabang.
This is literally 5 minutes stroll from our resort and here you can find lots of things to do which should ensure a good evening. Sabang is a small town, indeed it only seems five minutes ago that it was just a fishiing village. As the number of visitors here has increased so too have the nightlife.
There are countless pubs, bars and bistros. Restaurants serving food for every possible taste. Live singing, dancing and even kareaoke if you are drunk enough.
Otherwise there are several discos and clubs if you feel like dancing the night away. What Wikipedia says of Sabang.
