The Philippines is a much cheaper place to visit than most people imagine. You can get an idea as to how far your vacation budget would stretch here when we say that the average wage for an un skilled worker is still under $1 an hour.
The next reason why Puerto Galera is so popular relates to the water around our resort. There is a very special current which starts way out in the mid Pacific and flows like a lazy river to and past Puerto Galera. The name of this current is the Verde Island Passage and if brings very pure water which is highly oxygenated and laden with nutrients to us.
It is this current which is responsible for the fact that there are more varieties of fish in the water off Puerto Galera than can be found in the entire Red Sea. There are also more varieties of coral here than in the Great Barrier Reef.
It is hardly a surprise than that when the Philippines Government realized what a unique area this is on the world stage that they designated the entire area a protected marine reserve.
Nor will it surprise you we think to learn that scuba diving and snorkeling are far and away the most popular passtimes. A survey done here by the Government recently showed that once someone has snorkeled or scuba-dived on Tuerto Galera they will return on average ten times.

Small wreck diving, cave diving, reef diing or exploring the Canyons or even drift diving, where you just lie back and let nature do the work.
